While Apple fans continue to salivate at the mention of iOS 5 during the recent WWDC in San Francisco, the more objective neutral observers have indicated the likelihood of joy in the Android camp at the lack of any iPhone 5 details.
The new operating system with considerable improvements and upgrades was unveiled by CEO Steve Jobs as the next platform set to revolutionize new iPhones, iPods and iPads across the board. Taking direct aim at the competition, Jobs went on to state Apple’s operating system as the best in the business, promising further improvement in the future to further worry those on the Android side of the fence. However, while such claims may indeed prove true, the most notable element of the event was the lack of any mention regarding an iPhone 5 release date.
Needless to say, it is the iPhone 5 that is currently driving consumers the world over crazy with anticipation, therefore it stands to reason that even the slightest insight would have been useful in order to help Apple maintain their current edge. The latest and clearly deliberate approach to avoid all direct references to the iPhone 5 is certainly likely to test the patience of keen followers, many of whom has been waiting with bated breath for answers courtesy of the WWDC.
While there will indeed always be huge swathes loyal to the death to all things Apple, industry commentators are predicting that further silence has the very real potential to sway ‘floating-voters’ ever closer to the Android camp. The truth of the matter is that even significant delays would likely be tolerated were there to be at least a timeframe provided, but the feeling of crawling in the dark may prove too frustrating to bear for some, much to the delight and profit of Android.
